Hey guys, I have a question about the song "Ex Girlfriend" by No Doubt. (I know it's not exactly a punk/ska song but it's by No Doubt who... at least at one time were punk/ska.)

You can go to this Youtube video for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1geHo1xFzsI

In Ex-Girlfriend, during the riff at 0:16, you can hear an extra part go on. It's hard for me to describe, but it sounds electronic-y. Last about a second and is used multiple times through the song.

Tom uses this in a number of different songs, too, but I think you can hear it best in this one.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to achieve this sound. Or if it's even a guitar making it? I assume it is. This has bugged me for a long time now.

Thanks,
Spence
