would this handle metal with an EQ pedal? i tried one in the shop and couldn't quite hit that tone i wanted but i loved its depth and texture etc. i was wondering if i could possibly achieve a more metal tone with an EQ pedal and some good tweaking?

Yes, but a Peavey Classic 30 would do it better, for cheaper.

EDIT: The new Peavey 6505 1x12" combo, too.

A C30 is loud. I've gigged with smaller amps. In the extremely unlikely event that you should play in a place where 30w of tube isn't enough, your amp will be mic'd anyway.

Also, see my above edit.
