Ok, so recently a friend of mine has also taken up bass. And now he wants me to teach him something As I'm self taught I'm not quite sure what to show him. He said 'anything rock basic.' I know he has had some lessons, but I dont know how many or what they covered.
Currently I'm thinking I might want to teach him the basic major and minor scales, and how to use the root and fifth. Obviously, I dont want to bore him with theory.
Any other ideas of what to teach? Would using the studybass.com website as teaching material be a good idea?
Cheers.

I know he uses a pick, and this goes with his music taste (screamo/hardcore).
I like the idea of giving him stuff to play along to, I'll try and find some songs he likes with good begginer basslines.
