So i decided that i want to keep my gibby as a bedroom guitar and not use it for jamming at friends house and whatnot. I want to get a cheaper sg that still sounds good. I also dont want to mod my vintage sg so i would be changing the pickups in the cheaper sg.

what would you choose?
-epiphone sg standard
-epiphone sg g400
-gibson sg special (the one without the inlays)
any other recommendations?

also, how would any of these sound/feel different from my gibby? will it be allot different?

EDIT: the reason i want a cheaper sg is because i will also be taking it to college

when you have an insanely hot wife that's amazing in bed, you don't get a cheaper, less awesome version of that and leave your wife at home.

fix ur 67 SG up, go and mod it and play it outside of your bedroom. it's not going to curse the guitar to inferiority.

i feel like its a sin to change the pickups from the original ones i could always change it back....right?

Why make a guitar worse???????????? let this guy buy a new guitar if he wants it! and maybe buy another type of guitar for gigging and once you're ready for an important gig or sth important take your gibby and use the cheaper guitar for practising and jamming

edit: why I say this is because your guitar is worth alot, so never change the original parts! it will lose a great deal of it's value

i would say just get a cheap used Gibson SG Special, just a little bit more money, and yet worlds better than any epiphone sg imo

I honestly do not want to mod the sg because it is my uncles and i feel that it is not right to mod it anymore than he already did. i will probably end up picking up an sg faded special or a cheap sg std depending how i do at the casino this weekend...

I don't mean to Advertise, but If you ultimatly decide to Buy a Epip, I have a '04 G-400 with a Hard shell i'm trying to get rid of.. Just food for thought.

And for my 2 cents, I wouldn't want to be carrying around a 67 gibby to college. I'd want something more replacible in case something happened to it.
