I have decided I'm in need on a new axe as mine just doesnt cut it for lead
I am looking for something with 24 frets
Nice fast slim neck and a big enough cut out for my chubby hands to gain easy access to the higher frets
A Floyd rose
And some nice pups
I want it for lead, I want a guitar that will sound good for things like Dream theater, Steve Vai
Things like that
A nice rich lead tone
I know im probably askin alot for my budget
At the moment i have a Washburn Stealth Going through a Blackstar HT 5 head with a Boss SD-1 as a boost, I have an MXR 10 band EQ on order

My budget will probably be around the 300-500 GPB mark
Any Suggestions are welcome
Thanks

Easy choice; first of all get an Ibanez S570

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=85159

It's a mahogany body so will give you the warm and rich tone you're after but it's slim enough that the weight of the mahogany won't be a problem. It also has one of the best locking trem systems you can buy and a very slim neck that is ideal for lead with good access to the upper frets. The stock pups aren't great but at only £369 you have enough left over for a decent set of Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios. If it was Seymour Duncan I'd suggest a JB for the bridge (about £60) and an SH-2 Jazz for the neck (about £65). If you prefer DiMarzio, I'd suggest a Tone Zone for the bridge (about £70) and an Air Norton for the neck (also about £70). I wouldn't initially bother changing the middle pup unless you have the cash and inclination to do it. Either way, you stay within your £500 budget and you end up with an awesome guitar. There are even slightly different specs of the S570 that cost slightly more if you want to spend a little extra.

I know what you mean about Basswood as otherwise the RG would be perfect but honestly, these 'S' series guitars are even better. If you bought an RG at this price point you'd get a crappy trem whereas the ZR system in the S570 is one of the best you can get. I honestly think this is the ideal solution for what you're looking for.
Gibson Les Paul Studio with Catswhiskers pickups
PRS SE 'Floyd' Custom 24 with Creamery pickups
Fender Standard Stratocaster with DiMarzio pickups

I have narrowed it down to two guitars
Either The Ibanez 420
Or Ibanez 570B
Only difference seems to be the colour and the pickup config
160GBP difference,
If i get the 420 i can afford a 2x12 cab with it,
What do you guys think ?

how does a guitar nor cut it for lead...?

Its not that it doesnt cut it its just sounds better for rythem, I want a nice leady one, like more sustain and clearer harmonics.

As i said I narrowed it down to the two. What one should i go for?
