So, I just got a mail from Law-school informing me that I have to make up my poor attendance by doing extra coursework consisting of a 25 page essay.

What's your class attendance like pitmonkeys?

Pretty much perfect. Missed one lecture cos I was in France and a couple when I was ill, but otherwise fine.

You can buy whatever guitar you want, you don't have to be at a certain skill level to buy one. This is real life, not some guitar-playing RPG where you have to unlock new guitars.

I've been terrible this semester with my attendance.
Missed nearly all of 8 weeks worth of lectures, tutorial and practical classes before easter holidays. At least I haven't missed any exams!

I go most of the time, but when it's lovely weather I tend to simply not go to unimportant lessons. I chill outside.

It's good, I don't actually think I had a day off in year 11, and I only missed three weeks or so when I had glandular fever this winter. It's not worth missing school currently.

I miss about 50% of my college classes just because I think that some theory classes could as easily be studied by just reading the book. And since it takes me 2 hours to go to college and 2 hours to get back, I just skip those.

100%. And I'm not even kidding, I haven't been ill once.

100%

I don't think I have ever skipped class intentionally (Excluding any visits to the dentist etc.).

My school has a mandatory attendance policy so if you miss more than four classes you automatically fail the course so I have to show up as much as possible.
It's a simular story at my school

I used to have a 9AM lecture on the day after I'd always have a 9-6, followed by a meeting making it a 9-8 day, 9-11 if I went down the pub afterwards. Feck that shet.

My course was regulated by Transport Canada so we had to maintain 95% attendance. I maintained 100% attendance (I think) because I basically had nothing better to do. I'm paying to be in school I might as well go.

In highschool I'm sure I missed a few days but I was still probably over 95%.
#22
I can afford missing philosophy seminars because my seminar performances are excellent and I always get top marks which goes towards 10% of my module grades. In order words, I can afford to miss a seminar occasionally. History, I have to attend them. Not only do I get 10% performance rates but if I miss any, they take off 2% of my grade in that specific module.

I always attend philosophy lectures when I can because they're awesome but I rarely attend History lectures because they're pretty bad at giving them (and I'm awful at recording notes to a lecture) and I can always learn everything they said through home reading anyway, which helps my work much better.

hahaha class attendance...

for highschool over my last 4 semesters (2 years) i went to only like 40-50% of all my classes.. my attendance numbers usually showed between 40-60 skips per class out of a 90 day semester...

luckily everything was completely easy and i never failed a class once so i took my class attendance habits to college with me (maybe going around 60-70% of the time) and.. passed everything still... ( and i needed not just 50% to pass but 60% .. WOOO)

i now start my main program next year titled 'Music Industry Arts' (or MIA which is kinda ironic for my habits) and will probably attend more since its going to be something that actually interests me.

while i was skippin class i was sleeping playing guitar and teaching myself theory/ doing my theory homework that my music teacher outside of school would give me.. o and a lot of this

gotta love school

What do you mean your course was regulated by Transport Canada? So, if you missed too many classes, you'd be deported to Quebec?

Well, attendance wasn't monitored while I was an undergrad.
But, as an estimate, I attended >95% of lectures in first year.
In second year, I was bored out of my tits by chem2y, so I en.ded up going to like 1 lecture every 2 weeks for that(so about 1/6).
Third year, my attendance was probably >95%. First day was tough, because the botany building caught fire, and I watched it for a while. Then went to the pub to commiserate with a friend who'd spent the past week setting up all the experiments for his dissertation(he was doing botany) and had just found out they'd all got chargrilled.

EDIT: as for school, my attendance was good(no unauthorised absences) - though I would occasionally pull a sickie during the day(stomach cramps, headache and other such non-specific symptoms ftw), because the school was easier to con than mum & dad,

When I was in high school I rarely missed a day of school.

When I was in university I probably missed each class 2-3 times per semester at most.
#29
Bout 85%. I work a lot, and work from home. I am at uni, though, so I don't NEED to constantly be in.

The only times I miss lessons are when I have to go to the dentist/doctors or I'm ill.
Oh and there was the time last week when I left home an hour late because I got the time when the lesson started mixed up...
#31
In school, almost 100%. Missed one day cos I had to go to a university interview.
In university, about 70%. I sleep through morning lectures (even though I wish I didn't), and often leave halfway through the two-hour maths lectures.
#32
Probably 95 percent in high school. I hate missing class, not because I like it, but because its a hassle trying to figure out what happened in class and what I missed.

In college, lol, a bit different...this year I went to community college and ended up totally skipping classes I hated and only going to ones I liked. (but since I'm transferring in the fall to another school, it'll be back to 95 percent, lol)

they nag here a lot (polish private high school) but I tell them nicely to go to hell, as I have way better grades than the rest of my class... and I mean WAY better, even though my attendance is bad... I miss probably like a day a week average.
#34
I used to miss quite a lot of classes, I missed loads of 6th form, and I did have a few lazy habits in y1 and 2 of uni but I've really picked my act up in my final year. I attend probably about 95% of classes and if I have to miss something I catch up with the work.
#35
i make it a point to have as close to perfect attendance as possible because i usually don't do the work and i need to have my attendance to bolster my grade.

I skipped like half my classes in grades 11 and 12. The advantage was that we were allowed to "sign out" of a class; get your teacher to sign a slip for you and you can go to a different classroom........ or leave school. So my attendance claims I only missed 20-25 classes in each class per semester but the number was probably double that. I still got straight As, too.

First year of university, I didn't go to class. Period. Probably went to 10% of my classes at the MOST.

No, but I'm in the aircraft industry so everything we do is mandated/regulated by TC. Since I maintained 95% attendance and 70% in every course I get to use my time in school towards my apprenticeship.
#39
To be honest I think missing class is entirely stupid unless you are sick. Going to class in college helps reinforce ideas that you have learned thus far. If you study material on your own most people tend to do it the half-assed learning style. I know this from my own experiences but also quite a few my friends as well.
