I think maybe something by clapton or gilmour would be it for me. Comfortably Numb is an amazing solo. For that matter, even Stairway's solo is pretty cool. These two for sure marked 'checkpoints' for me as a guitarist. What about you guys?

You are what they call a “rhythm guitarist”. While it's not as glamorous as playing lead you can still get laid. Especially if you can sing and play.

I quite like Adrian Smiths solo in "Caught Somewhere In Time" by Iron Maiden of the Somewhere in time album, I think it's so majestic to listen too.

Probably the Desert Rose solos by Eric Johnson, or the Devil Take The Hindmost solo by Allan Holdsworth.
My name is Tom, feel free to use it.

Hard to pick just one...
"Bark at the moon", "No more tears", "SIN" by Ozzy all have awesome solos.
AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" is another favourite.
"Rock you like a hurricane" by Scorpions
"Tornado of souls" by Megadeth

The obvious ones.

Johnny b goode.
All three November rain solos
and all three foreplay longtime solos!

Iunno, but Medusa by Anthrax has a great solo IMO(I don't care what anyone says, I love Dan Spitz despite his horrendous tone on Fistful Of Metal), and I've always had a thing for both of the longer solos in Five Magics by Megadeth.

You mean Eric Johnson.

It's not even close to his best solo IMO.
My name is Tom, feel free to use it.

Eric Johnson plays the Cliffs of Dover thingy not Clapton.

Oh yeah... And Crazy Train too.

I like Cradle of Filth's cover of Mr. Crowley better than the original though. Mainly just the 80's vocals I can't stand, not the music.
