You're a kinks fan right?

I was bought their greatest hits CD for my birthday yesterday, its great

This one?

If so, good purchase. Very few greatest hits albums manage to do a good job of narrowing down the works of a band as prolific as The Kinks.

Primavera - Ludovico Einaudi

Andare is my favourite piece of his, it was stunning live.

I think this piece, Summa for Strings by Arvo Part is amazingly beautiful.

FREDIT:

I can't not post Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis.

Or Schubert's Trio for Piano, Cello and Violin, No.2, I love how it manages to be quite sinister underneath its quite quaint beauty.

Nearly every song on the 2nd and 3d Focus albums. Jan Akkerman is my god

Take "Answers? Questions! Questions? Answers!" for instance
The entire song is awesome, but the beautiful stuff kicks in from 2:50 onwards...

That was quiet beautiful, can't believe I haven't heard it before. The second one sounds beautiful as well, though youtube butchers the quality enormously. Added them to spotify anyways... aaah... 320 kbps.

Rachmaninov's Prelude op 23 no 10
Tchaikovsky's Arabian dance
It's impossible to find good youtube versions... =/

Oh, and Erik Satie of course:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vrxiI7PqmhE

If any of you guys ever played Final Fantasy IX > remember that song you hear when you reach this village with all those soulless Zidane clones? I was always amazed by that song:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vrxiI7PqmhE

But then I heard the piano version one day:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=lzITOctshNQ

And all of a sudden I realized how heavily that piece was inspired by Satie > that slow, minimalistic yet hauntingly beautiful approach always makes me wonder: why doesn't this kind of music work on guitar?? I couldn't think of ONE guitarist who plays music that's in any way comparable to this stuff...

Many, many things by Sigur Rós, or the Post-Rock genre as a whole.
Time keeps on slipping...

"A war is coming, I've seen it in my dreams. Fires sweeping through the earth, bodies in the streets, cities turned to dust. Retaliation..."
