look for peavey amps. 6505, Classic 30, delta blues, those are among the ones you could find for you price rang I think.

I disagree with a 6505....for versatility at least....but some other peaveys maybe. +1 to the Bugera 333

other than the suggestions already made for versatility in that price range digital modelling amps may be what you're looking for.
i.e. Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 or used Spider Valve

Line 6 Flextone, Peavey Ultra/Ultra Plus, or Bugera 333XL come to mind.

I got a Spider Valve HD100 head with the Strymon SVpre mod and svpre footswitch mod. Great condition, works like new.
