My band's singer wrote the vocals for this himself, after we collaborated to write the instruments. Personally, I like the lyrics, but, seeing as I've known him forever, I think my opinion might be a bit biased. So, I bring it to you; not my writing, but I post this with his permission.

Summer's gaze is beating down,
bleeding through and turning red;
necessity's to form a frown,
emotions need more depth.
Paint them.

Summer....
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

We don't even need,
anything but our own air.
We don't even need,
anything but sweet, sweet glare.

We don't even need,
anything that's never there.
We don't even need,
anything, to be fair.

Summer....
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

We don't even need,
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

SUMMER!

No more short, short breaths,
more ways to solve perfection;
words are just the cure I guess,
the children are not important.

Left outside, dead and lifeless,
leave this on the top for taste;
must just be one more infection....

Summer....
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

We don't even need,
anything but our own air.
We don't even need,
anything but sweet, sweet glare.

We don't even need,
anything that's never there.
We don't even need,
anything, to be fair.

Summer....
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

We don't even need,
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

SUMMER!

We don't even need,
anything but our own air.
We don't even need,
anything but sweet, sweet glare.

We don't even need,
anything that's never there.
We don't even need,
anything, to be fair.

Summer....
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

We don't even need,
Summer....
Summer....
Summer....

We'll have summer!
We'll have summer!
We'll have summer!
We'll have summer!

Goodbye summer.....
