I decided to go with a custom 24 SE, it fit all my needs and covers the sounds i can't get out of my ibby. Not to mention its pretty sexy! paid $550 for it so i think I did ok, no dings or scratches

shes got a very rich tone I didn't expect the SE to have. Extremely comfortable to play with, especially the neck (nice change from the Ibby's wizard). All in all I'm happy i decided to go with a PRS

Top wood: Maple top with quilted maple veneer
Body wood: Mahogany
Neck: Maple Set neck
Fretboard: Rosewood
Pickups: PRS SEs
Main Rig:
Peavey 6505+ head
Mesa Rectifier 412
Gibson Explorer w/mods
Ibanez 321mh

nice guitar.

you'll want to do a review if you don't want the thread locked.
talk about its specs, or maybe add a clip.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

I love the 25th Cu24's,

they are great guitars and SE's get alot of undeserved bad press IMO

great buy mate

A great buy indeed.
Imho, with PRS SE's you get more than what you pay for. Great building quality, awesome finishes, pretty good hardware...

And i love your choice; Custom 24's in black cherry have a really cool "aura" around them.

P.S.: Btw, Tom, PRS SE's get a lot of bad press? I didn't have that impression...
I always hear good things about them, and never tried one i didn't like (and that's the reason why i bought an SE Singlecut myself).

There were/are only two situations where i heard bad things:

- once, in the week after i got my Singlecut, when i showed it to a guitarist friend of mine who is addicted to both Slash and Gibson Les Pauls, he talked bad things about it.
I settled the question telling him: "Okay, all of that $#/% coming from a guy who owns a white LTD EC-50... "

- here in UG.
But usually, guys who talk bad things about PRS SE's in here are newbies with cheap-@$$ Ibanez RGs who don't like any guitars that don't look like they came as a prize in a breakfast cereal box.
Most of the others, i bet they never extensively tried/reviewed PRS SE's.
And i always take everything i read here in UG with a grain of salt, because i can't tell when someone's lying or telling the truth. There's A LOT of misinformation and preconceptions going around in this forum.

nice 1.

I had the PRS SE custom 24 before, not the 25th one. i sold it cuz it had tuning issues.

hows the tuning stability in this one?
i dont think u should immidiately get locking tuners. first change the nut to a bone/graphite nut. then block the bridge if u dont use it much. if it still goes out of tune quickly, get the locking tuners.

anyway HNGD!!! she's gorgeous

the tuning stability is actually one of the most surprising things so far. Its been just fine. I've even been playing in drop d flat with .10 gauge strings and its holding up amazingly well.

I do use the trem a bit (not affected my tuning in standard, d, or d flat) so just getting a new nut may be just fine. I was expecting alot less with the stock tuners.
