for the car; black four-door sedan and
the puddle jumps in james brady's blood;
for the selfish way in which i love
gun control and stories from the flood:
i apologize.

i held a magazine in saint clara's
waiting room, thumbing your rosary beads,
thinking about the flight in from o'hare.
primrose bedsheets where i'd keep you from
cumming by looking at you from below
the fold and telling you i love you. too earn-
est, too eager to float your need to fuck
us both or never bother. when they rolled
your cart through the double doors you looked
at me as if from underwater and
i looked down into james brady's brown eyes
smiling at me from a wrinkled magazine cover.

i have to think
another drink
couldn't do you one better;
i should've never left you there
to rot in reagan's shadow
and inclement whethers.

I just have to say, these few lines were absolutely stunning.

i should've never left you there
to rot in reagan's shadow
and inclement whethers

I'd like to read a book of these... you've mapped out some very specific emotions and details of chronology in very little space, and effectively so.

if these are based on truth, then I'm sorry. I hope you don't get too lonely at night; it's never a sin to sacrifice this gorgeous writing for a dose of being content.

i don't like the break of 'earn-est', nor the first colon before i apologize.
The rest was good.

contentment makes me a bad person, but i appreciate the sentiments, it's honestly the sweetest thing anyone has said to me in quite a while.

to everyone else, thanks for your words.
