Ok two questions:

1. When naming, which is more accurate: the compound interval or the simple interval?

ie) Perfect 11th or compound perfect 4th?

2. When inverting, do you invert the simple compound interval? If not, what do you do?

ie) The perfect 4th inverted becomes perfect 5th?

1. Simple intervals are always used when discussing functionality. The same is true for chords with certain significant exceptions.

2. Simples remain simple.
