Got a new Epi Les paul a few days ago, thread an' all...
I just flicked through the "owner's manual" whilst I was bored, and was kind of... 'suprised'. The first few pages are fine, but later on there's some pretty horrific spelling. And quite a bit of it too, not just in the little places. On a diagram, there was a label for a 'pickup selecyor'. Several times.
Also, I heard that epiphone bridge's have flat screws, instead of being rounded... like my one?
PICS

The rounded screwymathingys, instead of flat... not sure whether that's an indication or not though

Ariel view...

Anyway if you looked at the pages it's pretty clear there's a shiz-ton of spelling errors/typos/dyslexic epiphone employees.

So, whaddya think?
If it is indeed a fake I'm probably going to keep it, it's not a bad copy if that's what it is

EDIT: This'll be the last thread of me bugging you guys about this

(hopefully)

well, at first your TOM-Bridge is the wrong way around.

secondly my gibson les paul standard has rounded screws and so has every epiphone ive seen=S so i wouldnt know if it would need flat tops

edit: nvm i see you mean the big screws of the tailpiece and not the screws for adjusting the TOM-Bridge

No its not. 95% of guitars with TOM bridges I've seen have the bridge placed like that. Even my guitar is like that.

On that picture they're flat, see... ?
I'm wondering - hoping - that they changed the design, perhaps?

And the god-awful spelling (of the manual) isn't helping with the tension

they look curved to me in both pics.

i think it's very odd that the owners manual is so wacked. i've seen countless epi owners manuals and not one is like that.

while the guitar looks legit from my experience, i'm still not certain that it's authentic based on that manual alone.

think about it. do you realize how many times marketing material is scrutinized before it goes out to the public?
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

maybe the instructions are being printed and written by the same people making the guitars in china/korea/wherever it is?

I call "Made in <Oriental country>" on the manual.

That's why I made this thread, got me in teh shivers, it did. Also, unrecognised serial... I may need to exchange underwears now
I bought it through Amazon....
This one right here.
I'm not particuarly fussed, I suppose, as for the price it is a nice guitar but the genuine article would be ease my mind, if you get my thang

That's because I used the past tense

There are a couple of typos on the old Ibanez 9 series pedals, and that's on the actual product

I wouldn't discount it on manual typos alone, especially if it's made in China.

If it had been just one or two, I might not have been so hasty to post a thread
Although i do hope you're right
Just some things, like...
"instrments"... "Headstork"... "Birdge"... "restringing you instrument"... "countrol knobs"... "rhyhem" (rhythm!)...

Yeah. lol
But I just hope it's a bad manual

/blind hope

personally unless you absolutely love the guitar, i'd return it and start over.

good luck man, sorry to hear this stuff.

Well, having bought it off of Amazon, returning it isn't so easy... I was thinking of telling Gibson/epiphone about the seller etc... And the guitar itself plays just the same the others I've played, so I wouldn't gain an awful lot from returning it and finding/buying a genuine Epi. If it were a Gibson, it'd be a different story, I imagine. I would have tried it out first, for one

Cheers all the same

at least you are keeping it real and not freaking out and crying.

hey if it plays and sounds nice, who friggin cares if it's a real or fake epi?

at the end of the day, you aren't collecting it. give it a good home.

nice amp btw.

Dispatched from and sold by leonaoiturner.

It's not amazon.co.uk selling it. It's a private seller, so it could be a fake.

But if it plays, sounds and lasts like a genuine, who cares?

Cheers man

Plus that's what I was thinking - if it's as good/better than the actual thing, it doesn't even matter if it isn't 'real' - it still plays fine and dandy
Cheers for the amp comment, too

Haha. I'm now in a great mood about this guitar for some reason, haha

That's how I dig it

It most likely is a *ahem* fake, but I likes it

well in my opinion its wrong because at that angle the saddle just cuts into the string which shortens string life isn't it?

I think it depends on the guitar, you can switch it around either way as well I believe, but I wouldn't quote me on that

i think the saddles are the wrong way round, but the bridge itself is not.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

lol, I haven't been there in so damn long... maybe it's time

My plan is to keep the guitar, by the way ticks all the boxes quite nicely
