Basically what genre has your favorite style of album art?

Do you like the artistic quality of prog album art? Or the over-the-top gore of death metal?

etc. etc.

Theres some great prog artwork out there, and also a lot of classic metal stuff like Maiden and and Dio had some cool artwork. Although one of my favourite album covers has to be...

Couldn't pick a genre so I'm picking a band. The Macc Lads' albums just because they're pretty much the same thing but in a different colour and sometimes with drawings on. My sig a while back was a replica of their first album's cover.

I like the intelligent designs of prog and psychedelic genres.
Pop album covers and normal rock albums look bad usually.

I agree, a lot of pop album covers are really uninventive - just a photo of the artist. Although I guess for the really mainstream stuff, seeing a photo of the star on the front of the album all dressed up is a big selling point.

Electronic music.

Seriously, I love the style of album art that goes along with it.

OMG yes. Mainly because it's so incredibly varied, there are no stereotypical electronic album covers (unless you're looking at trance compilations )

Pitchforkcore. Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Chillwave, Shoegaze, Indie Folk, stuff like that.

It's not a genre, but I'm partial to the Silversun Pickups' art. If I had to pick a genre, though, I'd go with prog.

I can't say there's a certain genre I prefer artwise... Though some select choices of covers of mine..

Don't really see a correlation in any way with them, visually, musically, or whatnot. But oh well!

Prog Rock. Not Prog Metal though because the art is often really cheesy with spacescapes and futuristic cities or Pyramids etc.

This is my favorite

But seriously, did he not realize how much of a douche he looked like when he saw it.

Mastodon, Tool, and Muse have cool album art.

Mostly Prog, but you gotta love the Maiden. Plus the stuff made by Roger Dean is amazing. Plus there's some other great stuff.

Pink Floyd - Animals

Opeth - Still Life

Yes - Fragile (by Roger Dean)

Osibisa - Woyaya (by Roger Dean)

Sunn O))) - Black One

Porcupine Tree - Signify

Iron Maiden - Live After Death

Iron Maiden - The Trooper

Death - The Sound of Perseverance
Those are only examples.
