I wasn't a big fan of him personally, but I liked Slipknot a little. That sucks that he died at only 38, who knows what's going on with Slipknot now.

Another one bites the dust.

I used to be quite into Slipknot and still listen to them occasionally. The two times I've seen them live they put on an absolutely mind blowing show. RIP.
You're using UG classic, congratulations.

Although I've never really cared for them, they put on a killer show at Mayhem Festival a couple of years ago and I was surprised. I know Paul was a definite inspiration on my band's bass player. RIP Paul Gray.

yeah, that's what I'm afraid of, too. Paul was one of the founding members of the band, I honestly don't know if they'll go on after this.

slipknot was my favorite band growing up, this really hurts to hear

Shit, this sucks. I was never there biggest fan but I wanted to see them live some day, and there's no denying their contribution to music.

Certainly one of my favourite bands when I was younger and they still get plenty of plays through my hifi. F*cking fantastic live show too.

They could continue, but I don't think they will. Knowing what those guys are like, they've been together all 9 of them for 15 years. Most 3 piece bands don't last that long. They have said that they're not the sort of band where you can just swap members out and have people leave, if one guy leaves the band is over.

Actually he has. He's been into drugs and alcohol pretty hardcore from what I've just read. They think it was an overdose in another article I read.

11 years. Jim Root joined in 1999, and only 3 members (now two ) were from the original 1995 lineup.

first the rev, then peter steele, then dio, now this?

bad year for metal indeed.

edit: i just remembered i had tickets to see them in phoenix with coheed and cambria last year and i wasn't able to go because i had no ride up there... i'll be really sad if they break up after this.

at least i saw em on mayhem 2 years ago.
