Looking at getting a new head and maybe a new cab (not sure yet)

Ive been looking at:

Bogner Alchemist
Bugera 6262 (with mods)
Peavey Valveking (with mods)

Just not sure which to go for.

Sound wise its modern metal, scremo, heavy stuff basically
Awaiting onset (myspace them)
Exit Ten
Killswitch
A day to remember
Funeral For a Friend
Machine head

The Alchemist and Valveking would both need a boost/OD to achieve the gain levels you're looking for. The 6262 wouldn't need one, seeing as how it's a 6505 clone and has assloads of gain on tap (with better cleans than the 6505 to boot).

Edit: Long story short, get the 6262.

For that style you should definitely go for the 6262. The alchemist sounds too muffled as well.

The alchemist is a damn near perfect amp, and you can always boost it. There's loads of gain on tap, but it gets real loose for that chugga chugga stuff. I'm sure a cheap OD would fix that though. But if you don't like the smooth, fusiony sort of tone, then this aint for you

Id get a 6505(+) but i dont have the cash for one. so tis why im looking at the 6262.

Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

out of the list you posted, id get the bugera in a heartbeat.. the alchemist cant do metal (at least by itself) or at least anything as heavey as you're looking for and the valveking just sucks

BTW, what "mods" would you be doing to a new 6262?
Ibanez RGR421EXFM, Michael Kelley Vex NV, Ovation Celebrity. Carvin V3

The 6505+ Combo is less than £100 more than the Valveking and more than £100 less than the Alchemist head.

http://www.thomann.de/gb/peavey_6505_112_combo.htm

I'd probably get the 6262 though, since it's only £379.00 on GAK. Have a tech go through it and fix all the problem points and you should have a nice amp for the price.

VK caannnnn do those genres but only with mods and an OD whereas the 6262 can do it straight out the box and will get you closer to the tones of the bands you listed
