This is my transcription Tal Farlow's first solo for the song Night & Day from the Red Norvo album named Night and Day, it can also be found on the more readily available "The Modern Red Norvo" album.

NOTE Tal plays a two measure pickup into the solo he plays over the verse. The notation represents this by playing over two measures on Ebmaj7 before heading the Bmaj7 chord. In the video though, I improv over the turnaround, preceding Tals solo by 6 measures. So, the video starts with the turnaround leading up to Tal's wonderful solo starting two measures before the verse. (I also improv'ed past Tal's portion of the solo, sorry couldn't help it!)

Disclaimer: From critical listening to this solo, it sounds like there are one or more splices in it. I've taken the solo and played it through as one continuous piece instead of separate pieces.

The song and solo:

This song is in the Key of Eb Major, and you'll see the progression is a bit different than the Realbook version, but much cooler. And the differences are that the original, and the commonly played progression when working with vocalists, is not what's in the Realbook.

The progression is for the verse and turnaround is...

||: Bmaj7 | Bb7 | Ebmaj7 | Ebmaj7 :|| Am7b5 | Abm7 | Gm7 | F#dim7 | Fm7 | Bb7 | Ebmaj7 | Ebmaj7 || then repeat the whole thing.

There is a bridge to the song but Tal isn't playing over it in this section of his solo. But, the Realobook has that part correct.

And remember!!!! I start 6 measure before Tal's solo starts.

Here's a clip of Tal's original performance:

Here's the video of me playing it a little slower than Tal for you so you can see how it's played, it ain't easy even at a slow pace:
