But is a passive series effects loops just a standard series effects loop?

No, it means it's not buffered and isn't really an FX loop. It's just a jack out of the preamp and into the power amp.

ok, i was just wondering because whenever i put my multi effects pedal
in my amps effects loop it leaves a phased like sound on the delay repetitions,
its a strange kind of sound...

would you happen to know a way of getting around this without putting
the multi effects in front of my amp?
