I just turned on my iPod to get my daily dose of tunage, when I realized that sound was only coming out of the right side. It's been sitting right by my bed all day, and now it's not working. Anyone know what could be up?

These are the bad boys in question.

The speaker may have just died. It happens to mine all the time, although it is never that sudden. It just fades over time as I use it. I use Sony earphones too so it could just be that they make shoddy headphones. I don't use those exact ones, but you get the idea. I doubt you can fix it.

Looking at the reviews, almost all say that they last <6 months, so I guess I have my closure.

That sounds pretty similar to the lifespan on mine. How much did you pay for them?

These work pretty well for me, and they're cheaper than $20:

They sound good enough, and last the same amount of time, if longer. I'm assuming you've got Future Shop over in America. They're still not great, but they get the job done.

Fair enough. And I love how we're the only ones who have even posted in this thread. It's kinda weird actually.

When that happens 9 times out of 10 it means the cable has frayed or worn. Wiggle around the cable near the jack and you'll probably be able to hear sound sporadically re-appear in the right ear.
You get what you pay for.
