you know... the jonny greenwood shape where they mute the low E and D string.... play an octave on the A and G string

i have trouble tremolo picking these... but i can tremolo single notes fine...

Yeah that might be because it'd no longer tremolo picking it's just strumming really fast. Just practice strumming fast enough where you can keep in time still. Your hand can be loose, unlike with tremolo picking.

I use my index finger and pinky so I can mute the other strings more effectively
