Listen to about the first 10 seconds of this

Then listen to about 3:18 - 3:25 of this

I was literally playing this song unplugged on my guitar when Medium came on and I just heard the similarity. That's just too crazy. Not accusing LoG of anything; it's just something I noticed.

So, to you, what are other riffs/melodies that sound just a bit too similar?
R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio. Supplied amazing music to both me and my mother.

He will be missed.

Big deal, it's hard to make new riffs, and everyone steals riffs from others.
And why do you think Lamb of god stole it? Maybe someone stole it off Lamb of god?

edit: Clicked the video, ignore the last thing I said about someone stealing it off Lamb of god.

You guys really don't see the similarity? Transcribe the Medium thing to guitar, turn up the distortion, and speed up the tempo a bit and you got the same thing. IMO.

They're called influences for a reason. Everyone rips off someone at one point in time.

That little fill?

It's a variation of the other ones that are in the song like at 2:57. Easy to do, and not that surprising.

I can definitely hear a similarity, however there's no way that's stolen. They have just used the same sequence of intervals. It happens all too often in music.

Youtube metal that sounds like other metal.

Riffs get borrowed or played similarly all the time, it's bound to happen.

In Soviet Russia a riff steals Lamb Of God.

They hardly sound alike at all man. I doubt Lamb of God would steal a 10 sec fill from a shit TV show anyway.

"Nah."

I know, right?!

I mean, if you take Nothing Else Matters, increase the tempo, completely change the melody and the song, add some brass instruments and you basically have Reel Big Fish's cover of Take On Me.

The two tunes are barely similar.

The Right Side of the Bed by Atreyu is very similar to an in flames song if I remember.

Oh come on, why would they rip anyone else off when they can rip themselves off perfectly well?!
Anyone else heard the intro to their track Hit The Wall?

Christ, its almost an idea to start a sticky about songs that sound like they've been ripped from something else.
In the western musical world, there are 12 notes you can hit at a given time. Western music has been around for centuries. Its not odd that some are going to sound similar. Scales and modes are there for a reason
