...That their appeal seems to extend well outside their genre. There just seem to be some songs that are just awesome, no matter what sort of music appeals to you in general.

Now, I realize that there will be exceptions, of course everyone is going to see their own musical interests as particularly "universally appealing," but I've got friends who are metal-heads, rap/mainstreem pop fans, roots-rock fans, classical musicians, jazz friends, etc. Here are a few things I've found that seem to get a thumbs up no matter who I show it to.

Bruce Springsteen - Kitty's Back
Bach - Partita in E major: Prelude
The Who - Baba O'Riley

Anyways, there's some of mine. What are some of yours?

Eve to Adam - Last Call

Regardless of age or social grouping, I'm sure we all know 'Last Call' by Eve to Adam.

How does it go again?

Dum dum dum... Last Call.

Doo doo doo...

...

Last Call.

...

Dum dum dum...

This is your...

Doo doo - Last. Call.

I have yet to meet anyone who dislikes either of these songs

I'm Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw

Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIh3nO6-V_A (my favorite cover)

I despise both songs. Contrived, touristy faux-Irish "Celtic" bollocks. Although none is as bad as Horslips. Seriously if you want to listen to Irish music, look up Paul Brady, Luke Kelly, Liam O Maonlai etc. If you're into fusion, Cormac Breatnach, Mozaik, the Pogues and Planxty should do it for you. But the Dropkick bloody Murphys, come on! As a rule of thumb, stay away from anything you'd find in a "Carrol's Irish Gifts" shop.

and everyone loves this song
