WBAT suggested that I make a new one (since the other ones, according to WBAT, had stupid titles), so:

Lantlos - Lantlos

Glorior Belli - Meet Us at the Southern Sign (this band's artwork is always killer)

Aaaaannnddd... even though they're not metal, Hawkwind - Space Ritual, for the sake of posting really really awesome album covers

I rock. And Space Ritual ftw.

Although according to some, the combination of colours is despicable.

Some non-metal ones:

I'll leave it to others to post some of the more obvious ones.

More Burzumic greatness

I think I'll use this post to shamelessly exhibit my penis some more stoner covers, brb.

There are tons more, but I don't exactly want to kill people with the concentrated awesome.

EDIT: ^Hehe.
Soulside Journey is one of these covers that simply has to be mentioned.

Baroness - Red Album
Boris - Amplifier Worship (Japanese cover)
Earth - The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull
Orange Goblin - Frequencies from Planet Ten - just looking at it has made me listen to it again, lovely album and cover.

Amesoeurs' looks pretty cool, and Dødsengel makes me horny.
Might just check it out based on the artwork.

More Borissy goodness: Feedbacker, which I can't believe I forgot the first time around.

^The production on the Dødsengel album is super raw though, more so than old Darkthrone. The songs are epic awesome though. One of my favorite albums for sure

Amesoeurs is a million orgasms

moar

Serpentcult - Weight of Light

Lantlos - .neon

Mournful Congregation - The June Frost

Jex Thoth - Jex Thoth

The Devil's Blood - The Time of No Time Evermore

So ITT, cover art you think is cool?

(though the re-release probably has a prettier coloured one)

Then some even more obvious ones:

Testament - The New Order
Cynic - Focus
Atheist - all albums

OOgly bOObly, if anything, I would've chosen Unquestionable Presence (two moons? Can't beat that) and Effigy of the Forgotten for Atheist and Suffo respectively, although those two look pretty good, too.

Wildchild (what's your real name, brah?), if Jex Thoth's album cover didn't have that unfortunate combination of red and white - b/w would definitively be preferred - I'd have an artwork stiffy right now. Regardless, tell me - which genre?

The Aspid reissue has much too fruity colours, Sev, the one you posted is better by miles.

EDIT: Love the NSV one. Time for some more actual paintings used as album covers.

I think both those Atheist covers are beautiful. And Human Waste ftw, says I.

You might be right about that Aspid cover, though. The colours on the original are certainy much more controlled. Though I must say that I like the flamboyant-ness of the re-release.

Agreed on all points besides Human Waste.

Initially wanted to post Idolatry myself, but I had a feeling that you would cover that base, hehe. Oh, and The Key looks really cool, completely forgot to give it a listen. Will do so this weekend.

The fact that We Live crushes my very soul at the moment warrants the following Wiz overkill.
Lo and behold!

I could have posted every album cover of theirs, they have been amazingly consistent in quality throughout their career. Although I'll readily admit that I have no idea what is pictured on Let Us Prey, haha.

Oath Bound

Listening to Land of the Dead evokes the image of this cover. Despite it depicting a vision of the US, it truely looks like it could have been an image of Middle Earth that the music represents.

Incorrigible Bigotry

Although I prefer the other paintings in this series, but this one is brilliant too.

Bergtatt

Gloomy, dark, but with a sense of beauty shown in the mellow parts of the album.

Hammerheart

No need to describe this one, just brilliance.

Andy, good call on the Devastation. Second time they've been mentioned in here, and they deserve it. Moogle, you get 12 points from me for the Boris.

That's the actual cover you get on the cd. Then the booklet folds out to show the tree's before they were burned, and then the one with just the writing that everyone seems to know.

It seems as if he just thought 'that forest behind my garden will do' and it worked surprisingly well.
That's my contribution

EDIT: also, the 'blue' black metal album covers - In The Nightside Eclipse, Bergtatt, Dissection ones are great.

As I already said, I left the "obvious" ones to you folk.

Seems like the fact that BtR and Arise have awesome cover art isn't common knowledge among you people after all. Shame on you.
