HELP ME I'M TRAPPED IN A HUMAN BODY!

early Skrewdriver never even mentioned any racist remarks....and they made a couple classic songs that almost every non-racist Oi band has covered at one time or another, namely Boots and Braces and Blood and Honor

You mean that English band with the woman singing? Oi?

Yeah. I guess they'd be Streetpunk/Oi. She's a skinhead chick so I'll go with Oi.

There's a really good Japanese Oi band called Cobra. Check them out.

Saw (part of) Cobra two weeks ago........same place where I saw Deadline 2 years before. It´s hard for me to call female fronted bands Oi (though it´s discriminating [as is Oi ]).....Cobra looked funny, but it was hard to take them the way they wanted to be taken - serious.
#23
Yeah, I think I'd just rather listen to Cobra than actually see them.

No, it's funny because he's dancing like an idiot and they have a lame light show going on in the background. I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

There are so many awesome Japanese punk bands but every video for any one of them has always been super lame.

EDIT: Like this one. Awesome song, but why do they keep walking through that hallway?

They wanted to show how punk they were by walkin through the sewers.

I never heard of an awesome Japanese punk band........therefore I´ll make a thread about it and you can throw names on me.....

I love me some Cockspaahh but other than that, I've never gotten into much Oi. Wouldn't mind checking out some more that isn't terrible. Not interested in the newer more streetpunkey stuff.

To clear up some things about Skrewdriver, their first album was an entirely different band except for Ian Stuart. They broke up in 1979, and Ian reformed the band in 1982 as the nationalist monster they became known for.

That being said, All Skrewed Up (1979 lineup) is a great album and the Boots And Braces EP is awesome as well (1982 lineup, before they released any far right material). Politics aside, if you can't get into Back with a Bang, there's something wrong. I have no problem listening to those albums but when it crosses into full-on racist territory I turn away. (and for the record, the song Blood and Honour which was mentioned in this thread was certainly a nationalist tune).

Politics in nearly every Oi band get messy at some point, but so long as they aren't a white power band I generally give them a chance.

Some great ones, divided by region

Britain-
Blitz
**** Sparrer
The 4-Skins
Skrewdriver (read above)
The Strike
Condemned 84

France- (Much more melodic, not what you'd think of when you think Oi)
Camera Silens (Sound like Joy Division as an Oi band)
Bombardiers
Skinkorps
West Side Boys
The Veros

Japan- (real hard sounding, a lot of the scene used to be nationalist but has faded with time)
Blade
Cobra
Sledgehammer (these guys were (are?) certainly FAR right)
Gruesome
Crikey Crew

America- (A lot of macho stuff, most if it is just centre/slight right politics though)
The Templars (Sounds like a French band anyway)
The Bruisers
Oxblood
Patriot
The Service
Boot Party

Australia-
T.H.U.G. ( great rock and roll sound)
Reckless Aggression (more of a Oi/Hardcore mix, with a terrifying frontman)

As far as preferences go I generally look at it as French>US>British>Japan. French is by far the most accessible.

Weren't Condemned 84 the cats who sang songs calling people homosexuals in a derogatory nature?
Journalism is just a gun. It's only got one bullet in it, but if you aim right, that's all you need. Aim it right, and you can blow a kneecap off the world.
#36
Not surprising seeing as 84 is a Nazi number.

That said, it's common for thick punks to hate homosexuals, just ask Wattie or Ian Anderson.
#37
Anyone like The Templars? after Blitz they are my favourite oi! band. Great melodies, lyrics and guitar tone. Phase II is so good.

I don't use spotify because I'm not an indie scenester, nor do I ever throw parties.

Thanks for the song, it's f*cking cool.
