Right, I'm looking to spend up to about £500, but I don't mind second hand.

Basically, I just don't know where where to start. I kind of want and Ibanez because they have big frets, and a tremelo bar, and that thing where it doesn't go out of tune very easily. Plus, everyone I've known of who has an Ibanez seems to very pleased with them.

My favourite bands are things like AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Darkness, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Megadeth, and Testament. So I mainly play that sort of music.

I know the RG series models are probably what someone like me would be suited for, but I'm really just far too ignorant to know precisely what would be good for me, despite the fact I've been playing for about five-and-half years.

All suggestions or pointers welcome.
If you like Def Leppard you should try to score the Phil Collen's model DT-555

I usually see some on ebay for pretty much your price

If that's not up your alley, try a used RG Prestige 15XX

Used RG550

I more than second this...
Thanks for the advice guys. Both the S series and RG550 look very much like my kind of guitars, so that's a great help.
