Ok this isn't a buying thread this is a real VS thread. We're testing pickups to see what they sound like against eachother. These two pickups are some of the sought after passive pickups on the market. I never really gave a chance to listen to each other A/Bed though but now I have and I am sharing it to everyone.

Here's what we got.

Ibanez JEM7VWH vs Ibanez SA160bk

Now for a little personal review before the clip...Sike let me know what you think.

-First set in the clip is chugs. It goes back and forth between the Warpig and then the JB.
-Then we have a little riff and that's the JB then the Warpig.
-Last is a clean clip that is the Warpig vs JB.

It might take a second two load up when you click on the link since the file is a little large because it's a .wav file. This way we can hear it at it's best quality.

Ok ok here's the damn clip.

Hmm, at first I liked the JB more, but after listening for a moment I think I prefer the Warpig. Those chugs are just so damn meaty!!

Do a Painkiller or Nailbomb some time, unless you already have in which case link me nao!

Edit: Your cleans are furry..

Which one was first in the cleans? I'm not sure I believe what it says above.

Ummm... Why test one pickup that is more than twice the price of the other? Ofcourse the Bareknuckle will win. That's like comparing a Ferrari Italia to a Ford Focus. Ofcourse the Italia will blow the focus away.

I'm trying to sell my Warpig for a Miracle Man. I heard they are just so much tighter and that's when I need for down tuning. The Warpig is almost too meaty.

Thanks for the comments though guys.

^^ Ok grammer nazi.

Well they are very sought after pickups and some people prefer the JB to the Warpig. A lot of people do actually. It's just a comparison. Let your ears decide not the price tag.

On the chugging, I liked the JB better... but on the riff, I liked the Warpig, was clearer. On the clean... I liked the Warpig, because it was cleaner, though I'm confused, because shouldn't the Warpig, being higher output, be the more distorted one?

Would've liked to hear them in the same guitar though, but that's obviously a hassle The differences between the pickups could easily be because of the fact that one guitar is Alder and one is Mahogany.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I cant tell which one starts or finishes.
Can you be more specific?
They both sound great though.
#10
^^ True true but again I just wanted to throw something together quick. Higher output does not mean more distortion though.

^ In the chugs it's just back and fourth like 4 times. Starts with Warpig and ends on the JB.

price has nothing to do with it. The Italia is only .6 seconds faster then the E92 M3 from 0-62. Stop focusing on price. Start focusing on value for dollar.

@ Kyle. I wish I had your recording chops or at least similar guitars. I would definitely do a warpigs/nailbomb/bg hellabucker/manlius fullrange/guitar force comparo.

I've got the highest output pickups from like 5 different manufacturers now.

Haha thanks man.

Lol why the highest output? Higher output pickups causes you to move the pickups further away from the strings or the magnets will react to the strings and sustain will be lost. Moving them further away also gives the tone a lot more smoothness which is more than likely why the Warpig is so smooth. Remember higher output does not mean more gain.

no I know. I just wanted to check out the pickups from them. I actually like the nailbombs for downtuning. The warpigs are way to much.

The scatter winding will probably have something to do with that

For me the Warpig just wins hands down... again (I've done an AB test quite a few times before but on SGs and LPs). The Warpig just hammers harder than the JB overall, and makes the JB sound a little more nasally.

The cleans on the Warpig sound more textured than the JB too.

Then again, I'd say it's a matter of preference. If you like the JB because you like it, then who's to say the Warpig's the better pup for you?
