It began as a remembrance day for those that fell in the Civil War. But I don't see anything wrong with taking a moment to remember or reflect upon those that are no longer with us for any reason.

That aside. I would like to say my thanks to any vets who are reading, and I would like to tell everyone who reads this that has lost a family member to a war that I have alot of respect for them, and what they did.
I think we should all try to have a moment of silence for those soldiers who are no longer with us.

I'll admit, when I was a kid, the only reason I cared about memorial day was the fact that I got a three day weekend out of it, but as I've grown older it's become a holiday I view with a lot more reverence.

I usually have to skip school to go to my Remembrance day ceremony in town here.

Although, I wouldn't exactly compare the two. One's been butchered, whereas the other shows respect.

Your Remembrance Day is our Veterans Day. Nov 11. Some call it Armistice Day. That's what my Grandfather called it.

I was a leader of a trip focusing on the civil war. We spent some time in D.C. and I was chosen to be a part of the wreath laying ceremony. Definitely one of the high points of my life.

Spent time in D.C. last year and I got to see some soldiers lay down a wreath. Quite a thing to see. I got a picture of the WWII memorial as well. I'll post it here in a second.

Im enlisted in the Army. Im leaving for basic in Sept.Then I will be trained to be a Fuel Specialist. Im going to be third generation. This day means a lot to me, many of my family has been in Military. I will never forget what this day about. The ones who paved the path for Future Soldiers and Our great Nation. Its will be great honor to serve this Country and memroies of past Soldiers.

ish. He was still on duty when he died of a stroke (35 years old) when I was 3.
