We just had a sugar maple tree fall down in a storm, so i thought i might see what i could do about building a guitar or bass from it. I dont know if it will work out, but i have nothing to lose really, considering i have access to lots of tools. How long should I let the wood dry, and iin what way should i let it dry? Does anyone have any tips for this whole project?
You need to have it sawn into boards the size you need and either kiln dried for a few months or let it sit for several years in a dry place away from sunlight, longer if they're thick pieces.
