I was looking to get a small tube amp for bedroom practice and possibly a tiny gig, and was looking for something with nice cleans and maybe a bit of grit for blues.

Amps i am considering are the vox actv4, orange tiny terror, blackheart BH5.

Currently have a 6505 212 for our studio stuff, but it does not do very well volume wise in a college dorm room, or in my small bedroom

I have a Boss DS-2 and a marshall jackhammer but havent experimented with them too much for blues stuff as i just use the 6505 distortion.

Budget is flexible as i have around 300 now, but am earning money currently, so i could save up for something better, i wouldn't want to go any higher than 650 which is where i saw orange tiny terror used combos were.

Id like to have it be responsive to pedals, and be a bit versatile for some post rock ambient stuff, and some gritty blues tones. so it doesn't need to be good for anything too heavy.

Thanks in Advance!!

... but seriously, i vote a Vox Night Train.

or a dumble.

Night Train isn't a combo, TS wants a combo.

If you were into a not-combo, i'd highly second the Night Train sentiment.

Have you taken a look at a Fender Champion 600? http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Champion-600-5W-1x6-Combo-Amp?sku=485054 i personally dont have any experience with it but there's plenty of YT vids on it

+1

If you want a small blues amp for practicing it's hard to go past a Champ. You can't even build one for the price they are asking for it. Plug it into a nice 12" cab and you are really cooking. It can always be miked up for small gigs but hey, you've got a 6505 for that haven't you?

Egnater Rebel or Tweaker? they have very beautiful cleans, and it is easy to get a nice sweet bluesy chrunch on either one. the rebel is two channels though so if you were looking to switch to clean/ dirty on the tweaker, you would need an OD.

cmon man, I put a lot of effort into my post

Yes, a marvelous list of amp manufacturers but not very specific are ya?

And btw Red Iron, although they do have a very tasty looking 5 W'er, they don't actually do a combo as far as I'm aware. I should imaging if he did do the 5W in a combo it would be a pretty special thing though - all that fancy gnarled timber and all.
Hmmmm, now there begins the kernel of an idea!!

They do custom amps - you e-mail them and they'll make just about anything to your spec. They just have a handful that they make regularly and market.

Nice. How sweet would a Red Iron 5W combo be?
