I'm sure others have searched for this as well, but i just though i would see just how well i am able to answer this question

What is the absolute best setup, of gear that offers the best tone for all or the most genres of music?

the limitations are...

Only 2 guitars
Only one mic, if it's mic'd
Only 2 amps/preamp/modelers etc (anything that would act like an amp head that would be the main source of tone)
Up to 4 pa, monitors, or cabs
CANNOT COST MORE THAN $20000 ($20k or Twenty thousand) USD TOTAL, after all, after about that much, there is pretty much no way anyone could afford that

I'm not doing this because i intend on buying anything, just curious on people's thoughts on different products

and remember, the goal is to make the rig as versatile as possible, to be able to do metalcore, to blues, to jazz, to classic rock, to country... well, you get the idea

against rules? i understand there are no vs threads, but what rule is this breaking, this is no different from the dream rig thread really, so what the heck?

@Sguit

it's $20000 or $20k as in twenty thousand, not just two thousand, i will edit this for clarification

That's why I said 'potentially.' This is basically a 'best' thread and it leaves WAY too much room for subjective opinion. Not to mention that, as has been said above, this is WAY overdone already.

Edit: WAY!

Did you just edited your post or did I misread

Whatever, now with that budget you can do something.
But yeah I'd probably go something like a Strat and a Les Paul through an Axe-fx ultra

If I was using a Axe Fx, I would much rather have a power amp and run it through a cab than a PA. Maybe just personal preference.

Edit: Also if TS would have left out the part about not actually wanting to buy it then it wouldn't have as big of a chance of being closed.

if anyone tried to do all those 'genres' it would just be retarded....
you need 3 amps:
fender front man, marshall mg and line 6 spyder
an electric-acoustic guitar and a boss metal zone
and spend the rest on drugs to make it sound good and make it all make sense like buddy up there said.

Not everyone one just plays metal. I have three different bands that all have completely different styles. I prefer to use a clean amp and pedals for versatility. Maybe some "musicians" aren't content with playing one "genre" all the damn time.

ok, but with that budget you could have 6-10 different rigs. some of your gear could overlap but you could have pretty much a different set-up for each band.
