Hopefully you Stanley Kubrick fans can help me out here.

There is a scene at the end where a sniper pins down a squad of American soldiers. At the end of the movie, the sniper is revealed to be a young Vietnamese girl. Did the Vietnamese really employ their own children to fight in the war?

Way I see it, a superior military force invades your country, bombs and burns villages, kills and rapes without discretion... I'd say, whoever can fire a gun should jolly well do it, and in their direction.

Alot of the people in the Vietnam war fought and shot at americans even if they weren't in the VC. They did it because they had a gun and wanted to do some good.
I havn't changed this thing in a year.

You know, they used to have little viet children ask soldiers to shine their shoes
Long story short, there was a grenade in the shoe shine thing

like that one

anyway, they'd blow themselves up w/ a few soldiers

Thanks. Gah. Looking for some historical inaccuracies in this movie. This is tough .

My boss was in Vietnam and I asked him which movie, if any, was close to the real thing.

Without flinching, he said "Full Metal Jacket, the whole thing, even the boot camp half."

I know, it sucks. I don't know why I picked this movie for AP world project.

Good meaning shooting college kids drafted into service against their will?

If that is what it takes not having your women and children killed, villages burned etc., yes, it's for the greater good.

Any note: He was in the Air Force, not the Marines.

What is the exact project? Is it an essay on the movie vs real life?
