It finally came.

What I got was an RM100 metal face edition. Feels great to be coming back to the MTS series. It came with two KT88s and two KT66s (which is like an upgraded 6L6). Biased her started her up but I have no module until Friday! Tomorrow is going to be something big though. The next three days are going to be some crazy gear acquisitions.

I can say this much. With the KT88s and KT66s this amp is going to sound HUGE. I threw the 88s on the outside of the two and the 66s in the middle. The outside controls a lot more of the headroom and bottom end while the middle tubes control the mids of the amp. I hear 66s are great for their mid range.

Family shot anyone?

Wow, that's awesome. Those Randalls are so cool, too bad I don't play high gain, which 90% of the modules are. So its made to handle mismatched biasing? Or are Kt66/Kt88s just close enough that it doesn't matter?

Only one I'm getting is the Modern for now. Just wanted to see how that suits me. Got a deal on it for $100 and it's rare as ****!

^ You can set the bias on the back of the amp. You plug your multimeters ground into the common of the amp in the back and the other into the test point on each power tube. You can then use a simple flat head screw driver and turn the bias higher and lower. Greatest invention ever.

Here's a quick picture. Sorry for the flash it's dark back there.

By the way man there are a ton of non metal/hard rock modules.

Clean, Tweed, Top boost.

And have you sold the 5150 on by the way? I didn't see it in the family pics.....

hey buy the mg module.

Nah the Spider one has more inbuilt effects.

And get the Insane setting modified for more gain.

I have two KT88s and two KT66s. 66s in middle. 88s on the outside. Yeah I might trade it for something more high gain if I don't like it. I want it to be extremely tight.

Spider and MG modules are not my favorite.

Why no more 5150????

I love those things so much, once I get a job I'm gonna get a 5150 and keep it in my backline pretty much forever I think. They can only do one thing....but they do it so damn well!

The thing just didn't sound good at all at low volumes. I've just been trying to find a good amp that I could keep at home and at my band practice or keep both amps at both my bands places. This really is the ultimate setup "looks wise".

There were just so many thing I wasn't fond of with the 5150. It just wasn't clear enough. I'm so used the Baron I guess.

haha that does look damn sexy...and I can't really comment about those 2 amps. Never had a chance to play either of them

And yeah I understand...if you don't like the 5150 tone there's not much you can do about it, versatility isn't one of it's strong points!

I remember listening to some of the clips in your old MTS thread....they always sounded so good and versatility is definately something they do well And the Baron sounds pretty cool too, nice unique voicing compared to a lot of the stuff in metal these days

Yeah that's what I like about the Baron. I mean it's not for everyone but it is a really nice tone and tons of options. If anything I could get the RM100 to sound relatively close to a 5150 after modding a module a little bit. Come to think of it I think the module I'm getting on Friday will be pretty close, just a lot clearer from what I'm hearing.
