We all have them, why not share the wealth? I'm talking about bands you listen to that not many people have heard of. Sorry if this has been done, if thats the case feel free to close this.

Mine personally is The Avett Brothers. They're pretty popular in the Asheville, NC area and they're up and coming but my God, they're amazing. And if you think they're studio stuff is good then listen to a recording of them playing live; they're mindblowingly good live.

BZOMG! Socialist!

Seriously, The Metal Shakespeare Company

Think Iron Maiden, but with Shakespeare inspired songs. And they're great live.

Captain Clegg and the Nightcreatures are okay.

They're a psychobilly band that toured with Zombie last fall, and they were in Halloween II, so if you've seen that movie then you've seen them. It's different to say the least, and most of the songs are pretty good.

Reminds me of that drunkard who ran out of beer... he was so desperate, he drank furniture polish.

He came to a horrible end... but a beautiful finish.

I loved a band called "The Infinite Machine", unfortunately they broke up a while ago. I was lucky enough to play a Queen tribute show with the singer.

I've listen to at least a bit of everyone's suggestions this far. Best so far is Elliot Smith, IMO

Foo Fighters. Haven't met anyone who knows of them yet.

win, they're pretty awesome and my best friend's favorite band. I also like Hot Chelle Rae, which not many people have heard about. Maybe Silverstein (though they've been gaining popularity lately, so idk) Oh, and The Script, not my personal favorite stuff, but they've got some decent songs.

INSANELY overlooked 70's prog band. In my opinion they should be ranked up there with the likes of King Crimson and Pink Floyd, they're certainly as talented and original.

I suggest anyone who digs 70's psychedelic prog check out the albums "A Journey to the Centre of the Eye", "A Tab in the Ocean", and "Remember the Future".

Animal Collective, also, I've yet to meet a single person IRL who knows who they are before I tell them, which is a damn shame because they're so good:
