I have a bottle of Red Wine that I have been keeping for around 2 weeks and plan to give as a gift today. It's been unopened but the wine has been in contact with the cork, I'm sure it's still good but I want to be positive bc these people are pretty big on wine.

That doesn't make a difference. You may notice that wine racks store bottles with the wine in contact with the cork.

the question is the year, winery and type of red

It doesn't matter at all if the wine has been in contact with the cork.

Winery, grape variety, bottling year, storage and age are what matters.

All wine tastes the same after 2 or 3 glasses anyway.

I've got an old 2007 Pinot Noir begging to be drunk... It'll be absolutely fine, dear sir! And besides, wine is meant to be drunk!

haha dear sir! this sounds like gentleman thread.

You sir, must be a true gentleman!

Thanks for the help everyone.

Sir, the contents of my mouth just blew all over my keyboard, desk, and part of my monitor. For the record, it was slightly chewed Keebler cookies and coffee slurry.

Yes but for wine to truly age well doesn't it have to be stored properly. I don't think sitting in my house's family room ~ 70 degrees is stored properly haha
