Hey guys, since my band lost it's drummer and there's no drummers alive , I've been working on more chilled out music just to change it up. Wanted to get a crit on a song in my profile. It's called A Smoke and A Chew. I'll c4c. I'm thinking about adding on to it. I think it might be good how it is. Anyways, any feedback is much appreciated.

The start of the song's got a nice, slightly eerie tone to it. I think it might need a bit more though, just like maybe adding another guitar just playing a few sustained high, but subtle notes, maybe like harmonics if they work. I didn't really like the bit when it got loud though. It didn't really fit in that well, in my opinion. The transition back into just the clean guitars was a bit poor though as well actually, I think you need to make it less sudden, like maybe having the distorted guitars fade out on a chord?

Nice song though, I like the feel to it, but maybe you can get rid of the heavier bit and develop the clean guitar stuff instead, maybe like make the texture thicker and have lots of different melodies going at the same time. Just a suggestion though, good job.

c4c? Could you check out rock162 for me please? https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1321568

Critting as I listen. The intro is nice. Great tone and good layering. Sounds a lot like Isis. It's very understated but could listen to it all day. The heavy riffs are great too but almost a bit too sudden. If I were you I'd try to work on the transition a little, maybe build up the drums or do something with the bass. Having said that once it gets heavy it's awesome and the come down towards the end is also cool. Excellent composition overall.

Yeah I have that problem with writing all the time. My transitions are always quick and unnatural, because to me it sounds good. When I fix it though i'm always glad I did.

That was some pretty sweet guitar playing. Great over-all songwriting too. I hope you find a new drummer soon. Rock on!

Lol, when I first went to your page, I clicked on the first song and this heavy ass riff comes in and I'm like "THIS IS WHAT HE CALLS AMBIENT?!" But yeah, your songs great. The progressions have that eerie minor diminished feeling to them. I even enjoyed the little percussion, it gave it a great atmosphere. The hard panned leads were great, the song is very emotive. It's great to see people who love music in general enough to change up like this. When the song transfer into the high gain stuff it retains alot of that same emotion, which is good. The sweeps and vibrato solo is awesome. All around great work man
