Which one is right for me?

Okay, So in a nutshell, I am running a Palmer cabinet simulator in my rig, So I don't have to haul my gigantic Mesa cab and I also don't have to deal with microphone bleeding and etc etc etc.

Th cab sim sounds pretty decent seeing that it's completely analog and has been used by many professionals, But I need something to 'open' it up. Something that will make it more ballsy and give it more depth.

I've heard many good things about the BBE but I'm not 100% sure what it doesn't exactly.

Or should I go with an EQ?

(both of which should be rack mount-able)

Or should I go with something entirely different?

I swear by the BBE Sonic Maximiser

To put it plainly, it sounds like you've taken a mattress from infront of the speakers.

I have no idea what that BBE is but you can do pretty amazing things with an EQ.

This is the one I'm looking at.

Hmmm.... So 1 EQ, 1 BBE.

I guess I'll be waiting until more people vote.

I would probably go with a decent EQ. You've a lot more options with it compared to the sonic maximiser plus it'll have more uses for guitar than the BBE.

Any recommendations?

EQ - You can get a very similar sound with one, without it sounding digital and lifeless.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Any recommendations? Or does it really matter.

I know Radio Shack makes a decent EQ for like $75.00 that is rack mount-able.

Does it need to be rack-mountable?

I honestly wouldn't get anything made by Radio Shack that's related to music gear, giant EQs like 31 bands are going to leave you tweaking FOREVER.

I'd go with something like an MXR 10-Band EQ, easy to work with and you're not sitting there for hours tweaking it.

I'd much much much rather it be rack mount-able.

Preferably 2 channel, with 1/4 inch in/out and XLR in/out per channel.

So I can EQ my cab sim on one channel and EQ my amp/cab on another.

Although, That would be a bonus, I only need an EQ for my cab sim so I can help it sound more 'natural'

How's this one look?

You can get a ton of rack mount EQs for less than that on eBay.

Brand doesn't really matter as alot of them are pretty similar - either 15 or 31 bands, some with one or two channels, and some of them have level sliders or whatever.

Hmm, Ebay is okay, But I'd much rather go to my local Sam Ash, Guitar Center, Raido Shack or Best Buy and get one.
