hey guys, im looking for a pedal to push my v18 into the 80's marshall hair metal territory. also, on a side note, will the pedal be able to get me more power amp saturation, while keeping the amp fairly quiet?

thanks!

edit: probably <$130 USD

MI Audio Crunchbox and Fulltone OCD. With your budget, go used.

EDIT: I wouldn't recommend the crunchbox now that I read the rest of your post. The fulltone would be a better boost, but it can also be a standalone distortion box if you wanted.

Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret is among the best Marshall pedals around. Zvex Box of Rock is worth checking out too, but I think it might be out of your price range.

Box of Rock ain't that great anyway.

The DLS is nice though.

The BoR is an interesting one. I think it's more of a tweakers pedal. I've heard some clips of it that are just brilliant, and some that are fairly horrific. I've played around with it a bit myself, and how good it is really drastically varies depending on the guitar and amp I plugged it into. It's still something worth testing in anycase. Still I'd personally go for the DLS or the Purple Plexi

Rothwell hellbender is my favorite sounding overdrive. I would sell my child for one lol.

Or on another note, you can grab an overdrive and an eq pedal and boost your v18 into 80's hair metal, I used to do this with mine.

Wampler Pinnacle or Plextortion are good options as well.

It's just lame, IMO. It's a bunch of SHOs in a box.
Whereas the DLS is actually touch sensitive and sounds more amp like.

This. The DLS is the shit. BoR is just boring sounding. Nowhere near as touch sensitive too.

Carl Martin Plexitone?

EDIT: probably not as its more of a plexi style box. The DLS or a Wampler pedal would be good choices.
