exactly what the title says.I here alot about cliche' lyrics but nothing about cliche chord prog or riffs.so i would like to know what you guys think about this?what do you guys consider cliche' in this regard?

Descending 5ths progressions are soooo cliché bro. Also, that song is supposed to be Pachebel's Canon. (I think.. I don't have my guitar with me).

Well, most pop isn't about the music underneath, it's to show off the singer anyway. So chords get recycled but no one really cares.

Recycling that riff seems like some kind of rite of passage for power metal bands.

And of course any combination of I, V and IV, the three most unremarkable chords in any key. I don't know why people want to keep using them, if you're going to use chords as boring as them you'd better have a fucking good melody.

EDIT: And there also seems to be an endless supply of bands who are amazed by how changing from i to VI and back again changes the tonality of the melody. I'm bloody sick of hearing that progression.
