Hey guys, I was just wondering, if a 4x12 cab with all V30's was 8 ohms and it was pit against a cab that was 16 ohms, would there be a difference in sound?

I am well aware of the law of ohms and how it applies to your tube amp, i just need to know if the sound/tone varies between ohms.

edit: In this scenario, both cabs would be the exact same, just different impedances.
Gear:
Ibanez RG4EXFM1
Peavey 5150II All Tube 120w Head
Avatar contemporary 2x12 (Celestion v30's)
Peavey Vypyr 15w (Fantastic Practice Amp!!!)

Got Djent?

My answer is no. The human ear cannot detect a difference. Technically, 16 ohms is less efficient than 8 or 4 ohms.

There was a similar question asked over on the Splawn boards and Ayton(e) provided a link where he expounds on that a little further. Interesting.
