What do you listen to?

I have one Alpine R 12", driven by an Alpine 1200 watt amplifier. I don't see how i could ever want more than that.

why not just run the 12 of a Twister 500?

its a great cheap little amp and has very good sound,

i used a twister 500 and an alpine type d for years and it worked great,

though if you want to improve over all sound quality buy more smaller speakers and tweeters and run them with off the amp or from the head unit,

more quality speakers + good lay out + decent amp and good medium size sub = infinately better than a big amp and sub on its own.

PM if you have any Q's

well the way i did it was i had an 800 watt sub with a 500 watt amp,

the way the maths worked meant i could never blow my speaker becaus it could take more than the amp could power...

so best way is to make sure your sub is higher wattage than the amp,

if you have a store near by they can probably explain it better lol

^ or if it is higher (mine) then just turn down the max output capacity on the amp.

or this

though i found with my twister the sound was clearer if i ran it at higher out put ( i ran it on hi/lo ) for it to be a glorified speaker with improved bass response.

i then had 4 pioneer 6" in stereo running from the head unit with tweeters in the pillars and A frame.

sounded the sex.

Ok I get it now, I was thinking more in terms of guitar where I thought the Woofer=cab and it had to be more watts. Makes more sense now. Thanks!
