oil spills happen man. of course the company wants to save as much money as possible. Do you even know how much oil costs? Second, the problem will be solved as this is not the first oil spill nor the last. As long as one member of each sex of the wild life exists, I assure you the populations will return.

This calls for a revolution

But eh, people are as greed as those companies. They still buy cars and stuff.

As long as we stay like that, we'll be as stupid, shameless and greedy as them' companies. And by "we", I don't include myself because I don't own any car, don't plan on owning one and I'm not a materialist and consumerist(if that's the correct term).

You do know that in order to save the wildlife, they have to take out the oil, right?

Also, of course you would think about money. It's kind of hard to clean up the oil without the money to fund it...

Not my computer. And even if it's a computer, using technology does not make someone a materialist. It's technology, which doesn't have anything to do with being someone that consumes a lot, it's just a tool.

It's like saying that using a wooden spool is a dick move just because it's made of wood.

Don't mean to be a dick but please shut the **** up and go get informed. BP has PLENTY, let me say that again, PLENTY of money. PLENTY of profits from the past decades. This spill aside, this year, they will make PLENTY of profits.

The lyrics to the 30 second preview of Disturbed's new single seem to go along well with this whole oil spill thing

"Still, we ravage the world that we love, and the millions cry out to be saved. Our endless maniacal appetite left us with another way to die. It's just another way to die. Can we repent in time? Greed and hunger led to our demise. A path I can't believe we follow."

Not know why I bothered pointing this out but I did.

are you implying they caused the leak for no reason in the first place?

But you know, they could try to stop the spill first and then deal with the wildlife.

Oil Spill? Yes. I am very infuriated. Infact, Ive donated $10 (dont hate, im a broke student) and that money will save three ducks ! And I refuse to use BP. I go to Shell or any other gas station available.

This isn't a ****ing tanker spill. This is due to human stupidity and greed. This is the biggest oil spill in American history. This is changing the face of society, politics, and the economy. It isn't just some fish and birds dying. Even if your proposition about wildlife is correct, this oil spill has the potential to destroy the majority of wetlands in LA, which protect cities like New Orleans from hurricanes and tropical storms. Without these wetlands, even a minor hurricane will result in devastation seen in Hurricane Katrina. So I'll say it again, please shut the **** up and go get informed.

I mean you can be a dick if you want. I'm just saying that if you're gonna be one then just be one. If you aren't trying to be a dick then think about what you will say a little more.

With that said, you can be a dick as much as you like. It's entertaining.

True. Or more like half-true.

My dad has a car. But it's a family car, so he has a reason for it. But most people buy cars while they could easily just take a bus.

I understand that sometimes, for heavy stuff especially, you really need to have one. But don't freaking buy one hell of a hummer or a car with a v8 just because you can, and even there most people who do can't afford those stuff.

My brother has a cellphone, does not mean he's a "consumerist", it's really useful if there's emergencies, changes of plans or unplanned situations. But when it goes to a point where you become a 24/7 texting douche and talk like an old lady who has nothing else to do of her day, you have a problem.

Oh and even there, my brother does use texts, but it's because sometimes she can't contact my mother by phonecalls, so it's very rare that he uses the text feature.

It's getting close to hurricane season.

Maybe a hurricane will come along and blow this oil spill into obscurity like a hurricane did to some other disasterous oil spill that nobody knows about because a hurricane came and no one knows where all the oil went after it.

Well it is sort of the American consumers fault. our incessant nonstop greed for driving and oil usage drives the need for more oil exploration.

Even though just a couple summers ago gas was like 5 bucks a gallon we haven't changed at all! oil is disappearing thats why they have to go to extremes to find it. So if we're ever going to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the first place we need to clean up our act.

I don't believe that everyone should be treated equally. I just think that people should know better. That such dick moves from gas companies should not be tolerated and ignored.

I'm no communist. But I'm no socialist, republican, or w/e you think I am. Politics are bullshit in my opinion, and that's it.

People seem to disregard this completely, but oil rigs are run by different companies. This one in particular was run by TransOcean. In maritime law, it is the captain of the ship (oil rig in this case) is held responsible for any problems. Like drilling in a poor place, under equipped for the pressure, etc. Though BP is not completely without fault, they probably knew very little about this rig and accident.

And also, you need to realize the BP is a huge company. Do Americans honestly expect the CEO to know about every single oil well and oil rig? He's just a figurehead at the top.

http://www.mahalo.com/2010-hurricane-season-forecast

21 possible hurricanes this year? We are ****ed! A massive hurricane like Hurricane Katrina could be beneficial because it will disperse the oil as you say to such an extent that natural processes are able to biodegrade it. Things become problematic with tropical storms which will push the millions of gallons of crude onto the shore and wetlands.

Bro, you never cease to amaze me. You are just win again.

Anyways, I'm pissed off about it too. But you forget, they are foreign. Yes, the US and the UK are allies, they care for us, but not that much. BP is greedy, so they risk safety for money. But this time, it wasn't just worker safety, it was the safety of a gulf, the wildlife in and surrounding it, and the shores of the surrounding areas.
