So it's easy enough to work out the notes for a scale.
But how do I work out a scale from some notes?

I was playing along with my guitar and I though this sounded a bit like, the harmonic minor, or maybe a phrygian..
B C D# E F# G A.
It's the same notes to Rush' YYZ solo.

So.. that would make the formula...

1 2 3# 4 5# G A.
Right?

edit:
Or is it...
1 2 4b 5 6b 7...
I'm CONFUSED.COM
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

Look at the intervals. That's a phrygian dominant.

and then there's free jazz, which isn't even for musicians.

As my old guitar teacher once said: Metal really comes from classical music. The only difference is pinch harmonics, double bass, and lyrics about killing goats.

I DID IT.
I couldn't find it in my wee scale book, but I saw the...

1 2b 3 pattern... It was right at the back.
Lol, thanks, moment too late.

Just really getting to grips with theory lol.

Edit B MAJOR
B, C♯, D♯, E, F♯, G♯, and A♯
B, C, D#, E, F#, G A.
1 2b 3 4 5 6b 7b

Got it..
Wow, that's easy

As as I know YYZ changes chromatically throughtout the song from C Major to B Major.
It goes back and forth quite a few times in the song.
