I have a copy of Guitar Pro (Friend downloaded it for me) which will only play GP4 and GP5 files even though it is a GP5 program, so is there any way to convert the files to GP4 or GP3 so I can use them with the program?

If you have something saved as GP5, open it and go to File>Export and one of the options should be guitar pro 4 format, I dont know how to do Guitar pro 3.

I think I understood your question hope that helps...

Try exporting them to a midi file. Then just import them into the other version.
Call me Andrew. It's my name.
