I recently bought a Squire Deluxe Hot Rails strat, the guitar it's self plays decently and has been set up well enough. The trouble is the whammy bar, once i've screwed it in it seems fine. But pulling it up and down alerts me of a loose gap. Like, i can move it down with no problems but upon moving it up there's a gap before it actually moves the bridge and raises the pitch. Using the whammy bar is a big part of my style. Is there any cure for this condition?

Take some plumbers tape and wrap it around the bar where the bar comes in contact with the bridge to "widen" the diameter of the bar. You will only need one or two wraps.
You can call me Aaron.
