Hey Guy!
I recently bought a 1991 MIJ stratocaster body off ebay.. However, I forgot to ask the seller what wood it was made of before I bought it.. (I know pretty stupid.. but not much I can do now) anyhow, I was wondering if anyone could identify whether or not it is basswood or alder from these pics

thanx,
Mike

You won't be able to tell from the pictures. Most higher-end Strats are made of Alder, and the MIJ Strats were pretty near the U.S.A.-made in materials and quality. I suspect that it is Alder.

Look in the neck pocket for the model number. The ST62 and ST62-US are Basswood, the others are Alder.
