Hey guys,
just need some quick advice please.

This guy asked me if I wanna buy his Boss SD-1 (Super Overdrive) pedal for $15. I have a Fender Superchamp XD and Hot Head Distortion (which i rarely use).

Will this pedal be worth the fifteen dollars in any way? Or should I just say no?
How can it help my sound?

That pedal is worth the $15, definitely, especially if you do the easy mods on it.

Well what are you playing?

The SD-1 is worth $15 imo. It's a pretty decent OD pedal for the price.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

That's the pedal I am using atm.
I have a MT2 metal zone, a DS1 and they lay unused.
Instead I put a bit my amp distortion around 10 and use this to boost my tone, and to boost my sustain, sounds lovely.
play around to get the sweet spots.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

for $15 what do you have to lose? If you don't like it I could see it not being that hard to turn around and sell it for close to $50. Pretty much you won't find any pedal cheaper than that really. Thats actually a steal for $15. Even the cheap DS-1 usually goes for $25 used

i play a variety of styles, mostly rock. anywhere from a7x to guns n roses and beyond.
alright so that seems worth it.

by a boost do you mean turn the pedal gain to zero and put its volume up over the amp channel?

Nah.
I use it to get more sustain and distortion and a better lead tone.
Also it can push the low/high with the tone knob.
Good for pushing into a solo.
Doesn't really increase volume, or I'm doing it wrong.
