It depends on the scale of the guitar. Somewhere between a 48 to a 52. A 52 might be a little bit too stiff if on a 25.5 inch scale if your used to 9-42's in standard. But for a 24.75 inch (like a les paul) they'd probably be perfect.

i have the kirk kh 202 O.o (not a wana be kirk. necks just super nicee!) should i use teh save strings for standard and 1/2 step?

It comes with 9 - 42. Using this string tension calculator: http://www.mcdonaldstrings.com/stringxxiii.html you would get almost the exact same tension in D Standard with a 10-46 set. You can go a little thicker if you want more tension just remember you may need to adjust the truss rod.

i tend to like thicker string the lose floppy strings O.o i tend to be about to sweep/play much faster and cleanerr lol
