I just watched this movie and holy shit, it was good. If I spoke Portuguese it probably would of been even better.

I was wondering if anybody could recommend me some more movies that are really good but aren't widely known. I already watched Requiem for a Dream last night (pretty unknown movie where I live).

Cidade de Deus is a great movie. Up! isn't an unknown movie, but chances are you didn't watch it because it's for kids. Watch it anyway.
#3
I'd probably watch it if it wasn't in portuguese tbh, it seems like a big turn off for me.

What did you think of Requiem for a Dream?

Also, pretty well known, but I watched Catch Me if You Can last night, really great movie. If you haven't seen it, do it.

Requiem is actually very well known.....at least where I live.

Nonetheless, "Pirates" starring Jesse Jane is a great movie. Yes, it's a softcore porno, and no it really is a terrible production all around. Might as well be a comedy. Check it

You should watch Once Upon a Time in the West. Its got everything, gunfights...hey what the hell do you need in a movie besides gun fights amirite? Its long as hell but its worth every minute of it.

Cidade de Deus is a great movie! Loved the narration and background story sequences.
I'd recommend Frida, because I just saw it again. It's in English, for the most part.
Maybe it's more well known than Requiem for a Dream [also great], don't know, but it is a great movie!

Requiem for a Dream wasn't what I thought it would be but I thought it was really good. It seemed to me that they focused more on the main character's mom than the actual heroin addicts but in a good way. I recommend it.

Try watching City of God. It was a big turn off for me too but after about 30 minutes you won't even care and you'll be glued to your seat watching it.

Might want to reread what I wrote and take back that facepalm.

I'll try on City of God.

I've seen Requiem already though. I was terrified, that was the first time I've ever teared up from a movie. I was in shock for 10 or 15 minutes after it ended. I just... couldn't function. It was an amazing movie though.

EDIT: ^ Oh god

^^ It's unknown in my parts too. Don't worry.

It's not intentional. I didn't know who they were until I put that in my sig, I'd just heard that phrase before and really liked it.

The Talented Mr. Ripley - Matt Damon when he was actually really good. (1999 Version) However, the 1960 version is great too, I'd recommend you watch both, but, i know some people who find anything before 1970 a turn-off....*shrug*

Edit: Forgot to mention the 1960 version is called Purple Noon

best movie ever.

I don't know what kind of movies you like but, I can recommend movies like la vita e bella, le fabuleux destin de amelie poulain, Festen or Festin or so (some Danish) and la Meglio Iuventu(caution: its 6 hours long). Theres a lot more of these movies to be found but I can't remember all the names.
The corners of your mouth feel dry and rather itchy, don't they?

Totally bumping this but...

City of God is awesome. I speak Portuguese, but I understood about 5% of what they were saying. They have really thick Brazillian accents in that movie. Totally worth watching it despite the subtitles.
