So, I've been trying to play some Fall of Troy and stuff of that nature and...for some reason playing with speed on the upper strings is SUPER difficult for me. I'm not sure why, but it's incredibly hard to sync my picking and my fretting hands, and playing super fast alternate picking runs and stuff is really tough for me. /:
Any tips, exercises or ideas of what I may be doing wrong?

Practice.

Slow down, focus on doing it right before worrying about doing it fast.

Try holding your pick closer to the tip. Not sure if you are already but if you weren't before it should give you more control which will result in faster play

Hope that helps,
